Step into the role of a teenage Grim Reaper, Death Jr., the son of Death, after he unleashes an unspeakable horror from a box that even Pandora herself couldn’t open during a school field trip to a museum.
Death Jr. is a 3D platformer where you control Death Jr., also known as DJ, as he tries to find his friends who have been kidnapped by the evil necromancer Moloch. The souls of DJ’s friends appear as puzzle pieces throughout the game, which you must collect to bring them back.
Fight your way through 17 levels, battling demons and fiends using DJ’s signature scythe, along with other weapons such as a shotgun, an electric gun, and even C4 Hamsters. With the scythe, DJ doesn’t just maim and kill—he can also use it to reach heights that are impossible to jump to. Upgrade weapons and learn new moves (scythe combos) by collecting widgets scattered across the levels. The ability to destroy the environment is an advantage for DJ, because the more successful scythe hits he lands on living or non-living objects, the higher the combo meter climbs—allowing DJ’s friend Pandora to help out in combat.
The camera in Death Jr. moves freely and follows DJ everywhere, with the option to switch to the direction DJ is facing at the press of a button. You can also freely target enemies with a button press, lock onto them, and move while firing your gun. At the end of each level, you receive a report card showing your kill count, destruction count, total combo points, special items found, and your final grade.
