Black Rock Shooter: The Game

In 2032, aliens invaded Earth. Humanity unites and bravely fights back, but it simply cannot withstand the invaders, and their numbers steadily decline as the fighting continues. On the brink of extinction after years of war, the last hope for humanity emerges: Black Rock Shooter, a young girl who is also the most powerful biological weapon ever created. Working together with the last remnants of the human race, can she repel the alien invasion and save Earth?

Black Rock Shooter is an action RPG based on the anime of the same name. In many ways, it is a standard Japanese-style role-playing game. The player controls the titular Black Rock Shooter, exploring a battle-scarred landscape as enemies approach her when they spot her. If they get close enough, the game switches to a combat mode that resembles a rail shooter more than a standard turn-based battle system.

During combat, enemies will attack in real-time. The player controls the cursor to aim Black Rock's stone cannon and can freely shoot, as well as block, dodge, use various items, and special skills, but cannot freely move around the battlefield. Certain actions increase the heat gauge, which only decreases if she is allowed to rest. If the gauge becomes too high, she temporarily loses the ability to attack.

The game is divided into stages, each containing a series of missions and optional objectives. A stage ends when these missions are completed. Completing optional tasks at each stage grants the player additional abilities and unlockable bonuses such as weapons, costumes, and concept art. Players can return to completed stages to undertake additional quests.
