Half-Life

Half-Life for PlayStation 2 is a cult first-person shooter developed by Valve Corporation, originally released in 1998 for PC. The PlayStation 2 version was released in 2001 and ported by Gearbox Software, giving console players the chance to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Black Mesa research facility.

A unique feature of the PlayStation 2 version is the addition of Half-Life: Decay, allowing two players to play the game in split-screen mode, providing a new perspective on the events within the facility.

The game's story follows Gordon Freeman, a scientist whose work at the facility leads to a catastrophe. An experiment with portals opens a path for creatures from another dimension, and Gordon finds himself at the epicenter of the chaos, fighting for survival. Half-Life is distinguished by its innovative approach to storytelling — the narrative unfolds in real-time, without the use of cutscenes, immersing the player in a dynamic and tense world.

Gameplay offers a variety of weapons and puzzle-solving that requires logical thinking and interaction with the environment. Despite the hardware limitations of the console, the PlayStation 2 version retains the atmosphere and dynamics of the original.
