Space Invaders Evolution

Space Invaders returns in two formats at once — a classic mode for nostalgia and an updated mode for those who want “the old, but in a new way.”

Classic Mode

It includes two versions of the retro arcade: the original color game and the 1978 Match-Up variant. During a match, you can rotate the screen 90° so it’s more comfortable for two players to compete on a single PSP. There’s also wireless multiplayer — supporting play for up to four people.

Future Mode — a new 3D mode

In Future Mode, Space Invaders turns into a full-fledged 3D adventure: 13 stages along a route from Pluto to Earth. The main goal is to destroy the mothership, which releases more and more small invaders over time. The mode supports three viewpoints, so you can choose a camera that fits your playstyle.

Beat Attack — the combat gimmick

Besides regular shooting, there’s the Beat Attack ability (the triangle button):

• if you activate it in time with the music, the attack becomes stronger;

• you can do a full-screen clear: hold triangle until the fourth beat, then release — and the aliens on the screen will be destroyed.

In the end, the game combines pure classic with a modern mode featuring 3D, pace, and a “rhythm attack” mechanic that adds extra punch and makes each run more varied.
