Spyro: Year of the Dragon is a platformer video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation console. This game continues the story started in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage and is the third installment in the well-known series about a little purple dragon named Spyro.
In 2019, remasters of three classic games featuring the adventures of Spyro were released in a collection called Spyro Reignited Trilogy. This collection includes updated versions of the games Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.
Players will embark on an exciting adventure across a world of fantastic islands to rescue dragon eggs stolen by villains. Throughout his journey, Spyro will utilize his special skills, including fire breathing, swimming, gliding, and headbutting. He will use these abilities to explore levels and battle various enemies.
One of the key elements of the game is collecting dragon eggs hidden throughout the game world. Each egg represents a unique character, and players must find and free them all. New playable characters known as "critter" have been added to Spyro: Year of the Dragon. They appear as players progress through the story and become available for play.
Spyro: Year of the Dragon features colorful graphics and engaging gameplay that appeals to both children and adult players. For its captivating atmosphere, original gameplay mechanics, and excellent execution, the game received many positive reviews from critics and became one of the most successful projects for PlayStation.
