Dead to Rights for PSP puts you back in the role of Jack Slate — a hard-nosed cop who once again finds himself in the criminal underworld of Grant City. The story has you rescuing a girl taken hostage, with the road to your goal running through gang showdowns and shootouts in the city’s most dangerous districts.
Gameplay is built around a mix of gunplay and hand-to-hand combat: you can use firearms, switch to close-quarters fighting, disarm enemies, and do it all in the most “cinematic” way possible. The series’ signature feature is stylish slow-motion dives and flashy moves that let you stage action-movie set pieces.
A key part of the game is Jack’s partner — a K-9 police dog named Shadow. You can send him to attack enemies and help out in firefights, and smart use of Shadow gives you an edge in tense moments when you’re outnumbered.
For competitive players, there’s multiplayer for up to four people. And while the PSP version is a separate, standalone game, some locations were inspired by and reworked from Dead to Rights II — for example, the train station level.
